Angie Steveson
Angie began sewing as a young girl
thru the 4-H program. As an adult she
rediscovered sewing and began her
appreciation for quilting in 1990. Angie
enjoys many of the aspects of quilting,
but mostly design and color.
After the purchase of her first
embroidery machine she became
fascinated with incorporating the
embroidery function of the machine
with quilting. "I have developed
beautiful machine appliqués with the
machine doing all the work".
Angie has been instructing others in
quilting since 2004. She started
teaching with her original quilt “Merry
Christmas” and have loved every
moment. Her two goals for students
are for them to learn something new
and to have fun in class.
The Sunflower Quilt Design received
the "Viewers Choice Award" at the
Bernina University 2006.
Angie will teach "Students Choice"
at the Academy this year. Choose
from 5 of her fabulous designs to
stitch in class. We don't expect you
to complete a quilt in just one day,
but you will leave with an
understanding of Angie's methods
and a great start on a fun new
project.
Date: Saturday November 7th

I met Angie at Janome Institute this
last Summer and found her to be
delightful to talk to, lots of fun, and her
designs are amazing! She will be a
great addition to our Academy.
Lynda

Lynda Remmers and Annie Moody
Over five years ago, sisters Lynda
Remmers and Annie Moody were at a
sewing getaway with friends. While
Lynda digitized a wall hanging for her
family room, Annie worked on a crazy
quilt pattern. Some late nights were
spent discussing the possibilities of
this new quilt technique. Lynda went
home and began teaching the
technique to her customers at Sewing
Concepts in Woodstock Illinois and
Annie, an Educator with Janome
America, Inc. began teaching it across
the United States. Everywhere Annie
went her students wanted to know
where they can get more patterns and
Lynda’s customers couldn't wait to see
what she came up with next. Lynda
and Annie decided these patterns
needed to be shared with everybody
and they were inspired to design more.
Lynda and Annie will teach a
Holiday Table Runner class using
your choice of Hoopsisters blocks.
Learn two great ways to join our
quilt as you go blocks. You'll
complete this project in class and
take it home just in time to
decorate for the holidays. A
special block will be created just
for Academy students!

My little sister Annie, has been with us
at each of our Academy's. It just
wouldn't be the same without her.
We've come a long way since the first
Academy, when she worked for
Janome and we both dreamed of
starting our own company. Well, our
dream has become reality, we will have
just returned home from introducing
our products in Australia, and we're
having the time of our lives!

Patti Dockus
Patti opened Quilter’s Destination in
Arlington Heights, IL in September,
2006 after a long career in Corporate
America as an information technology
manager. She began sewing in third
grade by hand, making her own Barbie
clothes and by machine when her
girlfriend taught her in 6th grade. She
has experience in tailored sewing
(think suits and coats), as well as
home décor and fashion sewing. Her
love in more recent years has been
quilting. She can’t think of a more
fulfilling job than being a full time fabric
buyer and seller!
Patti will teach Embroidery
Goes 3-D!
Discover how to use threads to
turn an ordinary outline design
into an extraordinary one! See
how different a design can look
when you go 3-D! A new way of
embroidering that you have not
seen or thought about will be
introduced. You don’t even
need special 3D glasses to attend
this class!
After lunch it's All about Blanks
with Patti!
Does trying to figure out what to
do with a “blank” cause you a
blankety-blank moment? Come to
this class and let us fill you up with
ideas! Complete a fun
personalized “blank” project using
provided software. Never be blank
again!
Date: Thursday November 5th
Patti and I got to know each other
when she first became a sewing
machine dealer. She is full of great
ideas and I look forward to her joining
us this year.
